Water Tank Services
The water storage tank serves as the heart of your water system, yet it often goes unnoticed until a leak is detected. Prioritizing regular maintenance and checks for a proper air balance within the tank at least once a year is crucial. The tank functions as a buffer, allowing the well pump to expel excess water while in operation and enabling a recommended run/duty cycle of approximately 60 seconds or more.
Over time, a water tank may experience a decline in internal air pressure, causing the internal bladder to over-expand and potentially burst. This can result in water becoming trapped within the tank, leading to water logging. A waterlogged storage tank prompts the pump to cycle on and off frequently.
Many customers report hearing frequent clicking noises from the tank when water is used, indicating rapid cycling of the well pump. Continuous rapid cycling can cause permanent damage and premature pump failure, making it
a significant but often overlooked factor contributing to well pump issues. At Kappus Pumps and Plumbing, known as “The Pump Man,” we highly recommend periodic tank tune-up services. During this service, we recalibrate the air charge in the tank based on pressure switch settings, replace the pressure gauge if needed, and recommend pressure switch replacements if deterioration is evident. This comprehensive service significantly extends the life of both the tank and the well pump.
In the event of an internally ruptured tank, we maintain an inventory of the two most popular tank sizes in our service trucks, ensuring quick removal and replacement of faulty water pressure tanks on-site. Additionally, we stock over a dozen of the most common tank sizes in-house, ranging from 2.5 gallons to 119 gallons, for your convenience.
For optimal performance and longevity of your water system, contact “The Pump Man,” C.F. Kappus Pumps & Plumbing, to schedule a tank tune-up service or a complimentary inspection of your well pump, tank, wires, and controls. Trust us to enhance the functionality and durability of your water storage system, contributing to an uninterrupted water supply.
Water Tank Installation
Your water pressure tank is an integral part of your water system. A faulty tank can cause adverse pressure fluctuation and lead to premature pump failure. Just because your tank is not leaking it does not mean that it’s in proper working order. A burst bladder in the tank can cause the tank to lose its air charge causing the tank to become water logged and making the well pump cycle more than it should. A faulty water tank is one of the leading causes of premature well pump failure.
We recommend every few years to perform a tank tune up service where we check the air pressure in the tank and recharge it if necessary and also replace the pressure switch and gauge so your water system works at peak performance. We only install quality water tanks manufactured by Amtrol.
